Changes to the Formulary

SASKATCHEWAN FORMULARY BOOK

The 61st edition of the Formulary book is now available in a condensed version as a Portable Document Format File (PDF).

This formulary, effective October 1, 2011 may be printed and includes several changes that have been incorporated over the last few months. This version contains the following:

  • Preface
  • Legend
  • Formulary Content
  • Appendix A - Exception Drug Status Program Criteria
  • Appendix B - Online Adjudication
  • Appendix C - Maximum Allowable Cost (MAC) Policy
  • Appendix D - Saskatchewan MS Drugs Program
  • Index A - Therapeutic Classification List
  • Index B - Alphabetical List of Pharmaceutical Product Names

All other sections of the Formulary Book will still be available on this website and updated as required. Please see "Formulary Appendices, Indices and Other" and "Requirements for Manufacturer's Submissions" on the left column menu.

WHOLESALE MARK-UP

Effective April 1, 2011, Saskatchewan no longer publishes prices that contain wholesale mark-up. Prices in the website and future formulary books will now be the price as confirmed by the manufacturer, exclusive of mark-ups.

Wholesale mark-up is allowed on specific products. As of June 1, 2011, the following mark-ups are in effect:

  • Insulins - 5%
  • Standing Offer Contract (SOC) products - 6%
  • Generic drugs - 6% (Effective June 1, 2011)
  • Most other drugs - 8.5%
  • Effective June 1, 2011, wholesale mark-up is capped at $50 per package size.
